Saturday, October 28

Memphis 2 Bossier-Shreveport 1 SO @ DCC

The RiverKings made it a four-point weekend against the Mudbugs. Sterling was again solid in the nets with a 20 save on 21 shots performance. Ryan Campbell tied the game in the first and it wouldn't be until the shootout that another puck would slip past either goalie. Travis Banga was credited with the game winner.

Tuesday, October 31

Oklahoma City 3 Memphis 2 OT @ DCC

After dominating the first two periods of play, the RiverKings saw this one slip away. The Blazers, down 2-0 in the first, chipped away with a goal in the second and a power play goal in the third to force the OT. Tyler McGregor scored his first pro goal and Ryan Campbell notched his third of the season for the RiverKings.

STERLING IS GOALIE OF THE WEEK

The CHL on Monday named RiverKings netminder Larry Sterling as the CHL Oakley Goalie of the Week. Sterling stopped a combined 48 of 50 shots in the RiverKings' two wins over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs last weekend. The native of Lake Orion, MI is in his first season with the RiverKings after playing his first two pro seasons with the Fort Worth Brahmas. For the season, he is 2-0-2 with a 2.07 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. His GAA currently ranks 5th in the league.

SUNDAY'S RADIO BROADCAST IS ON 96.1 FM

This Sunday's game with the Rocky Mountain Rage at the DCC at 5:05pm will be broadcast on 96.1 FM WYYL and not on the team's usual home, Sports 56 WHBQ. The games on Friday and Saturday this weekend will be on Sports 56. It is only the game on Sunday that will be aired on 96.1 FM.

RIVERKINGS HERE AND THERE

After his two victories last weekend over Bossier-Shreveport, Sterling is now 7-4-0 all time in his career versus the Mudbugs.

Travis Banga had his 4 game point string to start the season snapped on Tuesday night.

With his goal on Tuesday, Ryan Campbell has at least one point in 4 of the 5 games this season.

Campbell's power play goal on Tuesday night stopped a 0 for 23 string with the man advantage.

The RiverKings and Colorado Eagles are the only teams that have yet to play a road game. The RiverKings play their first game away from the DCC this Friday at Oklahoma City. The Eagles play on the road for the first time on Tuesday at Tulsa.

With the OTL to the Blazers on Tuesday, the RiverKings are now 3-1-1 all-time in games played on Halloween. Prior to Tuesday, the last game on Halloween was in 2003 when the RiverKings defeated Bossier-Shreveport 2-1 at the DCC. At home on Halloween, the RiverKings are now 2-0-1.

The RiverKings have three sets of players that were teammates last season with other teams. Sessa and defenseman Bobby Gates played last season with Elmira (UHL); forwards Derek Campbell and Ryan Held played together in 05-06 with the Geleen Smoke Eaters of the top league in the Netherlands; and forward Tyler McGregor and goalie Ben Conway were teammates and roommates at Holy Cross College.

The RiverKings have 5 players (Aucoin, Dumont, Landmesser, McGregor & Sessa) that have played at least 1 game in the AHL.

The program has also gotten into the spirit of the team's 15th anniversary. Each program edition will have a different RiverKings history story that goes back and profiles a former player or coach from past RiverKings seasons. To go even farther back, each program edition will also have a feature about when hockey was here in the 60's when the Memphis Wings and South Stars called the Mid-South Coliseum home. A program sells for $2 and includes a game-day insert with rosters and notes about that night's game included. The game-day insert sells for $1 by itself.
