SOUTHAVEN, MS – The Memphis RiverKings of the Central Hockey League will give their fans an opportunity to see the 2004-05 team even earlier than anticipated, with the RiverKings scheduled to take on two fellow CHL teams in exhibition games this pre-season.

The RiverKings will start their pre-season schedule on Saturday, October 16 at 7:30 PM, as they travel to the state of Kansas to take on the Topeka Tarantulas. It will be Memphis's first look at the Tarantulas, who moved to Topeka from Indianapolis this off-season. The team represents the city's second foray into the Central Hockey League, following the Topeka Scarecrows, who ceased playing in the league four seasons ago.

Just three days later, Memphis fans will get their first look at the new edition of the RiverKings, as they host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center. That contest will take place just prior to the final cutdown day for team rosters in the CHL.

RiverKings head coach Mark Richards is pleased about exhibition hockey returning to the DeSoto Civic Center.

"I think it's great that we're getting an exhibition game back here," said Richards. "We haven't had one at home in two or three years.

"It'll give the fans a good chance to see players the day before we make cuts," he said.

Information regarding tickets for the home exhibition game will be released at a later date.
