SOUTHAVEN—Aspiring play-by-play announcers who can close their eyes and see a beautiful arena, enshrouded in darkness before the team is announced and the lights come on to a packed house of cheering fans, now have a chance to get their foot in the door with auditions for the Memphis RiverKings public announcer position.

Auditions will take place Thursday, Sept. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss. All applicants must provide a resume of experience and an optional cd or tape to review after the audition. Applicants will be tested on their promptness with the script as well as crowd exciting abilities. A prerequisite is that all applicants be available for the majority if not all of the RiverKings regular and post season games.

"We've been privileged to have some great announcers in the past, including radio and TV personalities such as Tim Van Horn of WMC-TV Channel 5 news and longtime favorite Ken Kincade," Game Operations Director Gene Szucs said. "Auditionees will have some big shoes to fill, but fortunately this area is full of talent."
