Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Since 2004 Save1Pet has made it their mission to to reduce pet overpopulation, encourage responsible caring of domestic animals and promote the humane treatment of animals. This year will be the 11th year that Save1Pet teams with the Mississippi RiverKings to support animals and, in the process, underprivileged children when the RiverKings host the Fayetteville FireAntz Friday, January 16.
It's Pups N' Pucks Night for the RiverKings and with the help of Save1Pet there will be animals available for adoption at the game. Fans can also bring their dogs to the game for free by registering them at riverkings.com/pups. The RiverKings will also help raise money for Save1Pet through fundraising ticket sales.
Denise Novak, who leads Save1Pet, has made it her goal to not only help as many animals as she can, but also to give underprivileged children a night to remember at a RiverKings game. Donors can purchase tickets for the game, with those tickets going to places like the Tunica Boys and Girls Club, Impact Missions and local orphanages. When the kids come to the game a portion of the money goes to Save1Pet.
"It's a win-win situation when asking for a donation," Novak said. "You're not only helping the pets, but you're also helping the kids too."
In addition to helping with ticket purchases for kids, people can donate giveaways for the children, like t-shirts and stuffed animals. When the groups arrive at the game January 16 the kids will be given a t-shirt or stuffed animal from Save1Pet to take home as a souvenir.
"It's amazing to see the kids' faces when they come to our table before the game and get their t-shirt," Novak said.
In 2014 alone, Save1Pet saved 145 animals in the area and had 115 adoptions. Since the organization began in 2004 there have been over 1,600 adoptions.
