IceGators Trade Cohen and Viola

January 6, 2015 - SPHL (SPHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release

The Louisiana IceGators have traded defenseman Jason Cohen and forward Matt Viola.

Jason Cohen has been traded to the Peoria Rivermen for Tyler Amburgey. Amburgey is a 6'2" defenseman from Rowlett, TX. He is a third year pro with 4 goals and 4 assists in 17 games this season with the Rivermen.

Matt Viola has been traded to the Huntsville Havoc for former IceGator and forward Jordan Foreman. Foreman will return to the IceGators as a 6th year pro. During the 2012-2013 season with the IceGators, Jordan scored 8 goals and 11 assists for a total of 18 points that season. This season with the Havoc Foreman has played 17 games and posted 8 points.

This morning Coach Drew Omicioli released: "I have been actively pursuing players that I feel can help our team win games. Both Tyler and Jordan are guys who bring major upside to our organization. Tyler is a steady puck moving defenseman who is going to tighten up our game on the back end.

Jordan is a solid, gritty forward who will bring offense along with toughness and leadership.

I am very pleased with the two additions and I feel this is a step in the right direction to turning this season around. We also have several of our players getting ready to come off injury reserve so we can start playing with a full roster again soon."

The IceGators will face off against the Mississippi RiverKings tomorrow night at the Cajundome at 7:05pm.
