RiverKings Silence Rage For Weekend Sweep

(Broomfield, CO) -- Mississippi finished off a three-game sweep of Colorado teams on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 victory at Rocky Mountain. The RiverKings moved into first place in the CHL Northeast Division and are now alone in second place overall in the Northern Conference standings.

First period scoring saw the RiverKings score first from Matt Summers, his eleventh goal of the year in his 100th career professional game at 8:19. Rocky Mountain answered with an unassisted goal from Simon Watson at 10:53 for a 1-1 tie after twenty minutes of play.

Mississippi scored three times in the second period. Stephen Margeson netted a goal at 11:24, followed by Summers' second goal of the game (this time on the power play) at 17:59. David Simoes ended the period with his first goal of the season at 19:08 for a 4-1 RiverKings margin after two periods of play.

Louis Dumont finished up the scoring with a goal at 3:54 of the third period for the final 5-1 score.

Mississippi scored once on the power play in three opportunities, while holding the Rage scoreless in two chances. Rocky Mountain out shot the RiverKings for the game by a margin of 37-to-27.

The RiverKings' next game will be Friday, February 20th at home against Wichita. It will be LeBonheur "Locks of Love" night, presented by Wilson Perry Salon and Day Spa.
