SOUTHAVEN, MS --- For many people that work in minor league hockey, the goal is to make it to the highest level of the sport, the National Hockey League. The Mississippi RiverKings are proud to announce that Matthew Olinik, who has worked for the team in the ticket operations department and as an account executive, has taken a ticket sales position with the St. Louis Blues of the NHL.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity in St. Louis," Olinik said. "It's something that I have been working towards for the past five years and I cannot wait to get started."

Olinik will work as a ticket sales representative for the Blues with his main focus being on selling season tickets, group tickets, partial and mini ticket plans, and suites.

"We are very happy for Matt and wish him the best," RiverKings Director of Business Operations Dave Mattice said. "This is what minor league sports is all about. When someone moves up to the highest level of hockey like this, it is a great reflection on the RiverKings and the Central Hockey League."

Olinik, 27, is a native of Holly, MI and joined the RiverKings staff in June of 2006. He has also worked for the Flint Generals (UHL), Port Huron Beacons (UHL), and Motor City Mechanics (UHL).

"I would like to thank everyone within the RiverKings organization," Olinik added. "They gave me an opportunity to both learn and grow professionally and I will never forget this experience."

Olinik's last day with the RiverKings will be Thursday, August 16. His first day on the job in the Blues' offices at the Scott Trade Center will be Monday, August 20.
