ECHL All-Star Carnegie To Play With Bucks

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League have signed 2007 ECHL All-Star Forward Rane Carnegie, for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

Carnegie, a native of Toronto, Ontario, played for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL last season, where he was a National Conference All-Star, playing in 55 games, scoring 13 goals, with 25 assists for 38 points, including three power-play goals, and one short-handed goal.

"Rane has great speed, but his best attribute is that he sees and reads plays well", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski.

Carnegie finished the 2006-07 season strong, netting 20 of his 38 points in the last two months of the season. In February he tallied three goals with six assists for nine points, and then followed that up with three goals, eight assists, for 11 points in March and the first week of April.

"Rane will blossom into a very good player", Ruskowski said. "He is the kind of guy that could perform well on our power-play".

In the 2007 postseason Carnegie posted one goal, with one assist, for two points in ten playoff games, as the Condors advanced to the second round of the National Conference Playoffs. Carnegie played in two playoff games in 2006 for the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, picking up two penalty minutes.

Prior to going pro Carnegie played five years in the junior ranks, lacing up his skates for two-and-a-half season's in the OHL with the Belleville Bulls (2001-2004), before finishing up the '04 campaign with the Plymouth Whalers, also of the OHL. In three OHL season's Carnegie scored 51 goals, with 58 assists, for 109 points in 162 games.

Carnegie put up his best junior numbers in the QMJHL, where he spent the 2004-2006 seasons' playing with the Halifax Mooseheads. In two years with the Mooseheads he tallied 76 goals, 84 assists, for 160 points in 131 games.

The Bucks, who open training camp October 8th, are preparing for their sixth CHL season. Laredo will start the season at New Mexico October 19th, with the home opener scheduled for October 26th against Corpus Christi. For ticket information call (956) 718-BUCK (2825).
