HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that defensemen Adam Blanchette and Mike Looby will return to the team for the 2007-08 Fifth Anniversary season.

Blanchette (6-0, 220) is a native of Berlin, Connecticut, and played in all 64 games with the Bees last season collecting six points (1-5-6) and 45 PIM. Blanchette's versatility was utilized at a time when the team experienced several injuries among the forward corp. He scored his first pro goal playing at forward on March 6, 2007.

He split the 2005-06 season between Waterloo (United States Hockey League) and Gatineau (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League). In 45 combined games he collected eight points (2-6-8) and 82 PIM. He spent the previous two seasons in the QMJHL, appearing in 116 games for both Moncton and Quebec, posting 11 points (2-9-11) and 92 PIM. Prior to his major junior career Blanchette played at Avon Old Farms, a highly touted prep school in Avon, Connecticut, as well as for the Connecticut Clippers junior B team.

Looby (6-0, 192) will begin his second full pro season after appearing in 55 games for the Bees. He put up 11 points (3-8-11) and led the team with a plus-6 rating. He was signed by the Bees on Nov. 15 after beginning the season with the Arizona Sun Dogs.

The Brampton, Ontario native was a member of the CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks in 2006, appearing in 12 playoff games and posting three points (1-2-3) after turning pro out of the Ontario Hockey League. He played a total of 260 regular season games in the OHL and collected 66 points (10-56-66) and 256 PIM.
