RiverKings make roster moves

October 25, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN --- The Memphis RiverKings made three roster moves today as the team prepares for the second weekend of the season and its games against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the DCC. Head Coach Kevin McClelland announced that the team has signed defenseman Will Bodine (boe DEEN) to a standard contract, waived defenseman Andrew Dwyer and traded defenseman Chad McIver to the Austin Ice Bats for future considerations.

The RiverKings signed Bodine to a try out agreement last week and had him on their extended training camp list until signing him to the standard contract today. He finished a four year college career at Division III Hobart last season and then signed with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL. The North Massapequa, NY native appeared in 10 games at the end of their season. He was in camp with the Lynx this season, but was waived before the ECHL season began.

In his 10 games last season with the Lynx, the 6-4, 212 pound Bodine scored a goal and had two assists. In his career at Hobart, Bodine played in 85 games, scored 18 goals and assisted on 26.

McIver came to the RiverKings in a trade with the Corpus Christi Rayz last season and had also been on the team's extended training camp roster. In 35 games with Memphis last season, McIver scored two goals and had eight assists.

Dwyer is a rookie out of Western Michigan (Div. I NCAA) who played in the first two games for the RiverKings.

The RiverKings are 0-1-1 entering their two game set with the Mudbugs at the DeSoto Civic Center this weekend. Friday night, the first 1,500 fans receive a Cellular South Derek Landmesser mini bobblehead. For Saturday night's game, the first 1,000 fans 12 and under receive a Bounz RiverKings Youth Retro Jersey. The RiverKings players will also be wearing retro jerseys from the mid '90s era of RiverKings hockey that will then be auctioned off after the game for charity. Both games also will be followed by a post-game skate.

Both games face-off at 7:05.
