Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
The Hounds started the season off right by coming home from their weekend series in Memphis with two wins. The SteelHounds won Friday night 5-4 in a shootout, and on Saturday 4-2. The weekend sweep of the Kings comes after the SteelHounds were just 1-8 against Memphis in their inaugural season. The two games were the first of 12 meetings between the two divisional foes this year.
Hounds in First Place!!!
The Youngstown SteelHounds can say something after two games in the 2006-07 season that couldn't say in their inaugural season and that is that they are in first place. The 2-0-0 mark posted after opening weekend leaves the Hounds sitting alone atop the Northeast Division.

First Goal of the New Season
Forward Sam Miller scored the first goal of the 2006-07 season at the 12:55 mark of the first period last Friday in Memphis. Miller poked the puck through Memphis goalie Larry Sterling after a scramble in front of the net. Miller had previously scored just two goals in his professional career, both last season.
Richards Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week
On Monday, Chris Richards was named the CHL Player of the Week after his seven point opening weekend. Richards currently leads the league in points (7) and goals (4) and also added three helpers during the two victories. Richards joins Jeff Christian as the only two SteelHounds to garner the award (Christian did it three times last season).
