Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 1-0-0 this past weekend. The Bucks beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 4-2 on the road on Saturday to open the 06-07 CHL regular season. Laredo travels to Bossier-Shreveport to battle the Mudbugs on Thursday. The game is a rematch of the 2006 President's Cup Finals. The Bucks are home on Saturday for their 2006-07 home opener against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Face off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Bucks are offering a family four pack of season tickets for the 2006-07 CHL regular season, which works out to just over $7 a seat per game and is a 48 % savings off walkup prices. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
- On Saturday night the Bucks will raise the 2005-06 CHL President's Cup Championship banner and the first 5,000 fans will receive a championship mini banner courtesy of A-1 Collision Super Center. In addition fans will receive a 2006-07 Bucks magnetic schedule. There will be a post-game skate on the LEC ice.

- BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT MUDBUGS -
2005-06 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 1-2-0 against Bossier-Shreveport. The Bucks beat the Mudbugs 3-1 on 12/03/05 at the LEC as Serge Dube scored a pair of goals. Bossier-Shreveport shutout the Bucks 3-0 on 01/13/06 at the CenturyTel Center. On 02/11/06 the Mudbugs defeated the Bucks 3-2 also at the CenturyTel Center.
2006 Post-Season: The Bucks beat the Mudbugs 4-1 to capture the President's Cup.
All-time: The Bucks are 3-7-1 against Bossier-Shreveport, including a 3-2-1 record at the LEC and a 0-5-0 record at the CenturyTel Center in regular season play. The Bucks defeated the Mudbugs in the 2004 CHL President's Cup Finals four games to three, and four games to one in the 2006 President's Cup Finals.
- RIO GRANDE VALLEY KILLER BEES -
2005-06: REGULAR SEASON: The Bucks went 8-4-2 against the Killer Bees in the regular season.
2006 Post-Season: The Bucks defeated the Killer Bees four games to two in the first round. Bucks forward Jeff Bes ended the series with a Game Six OT winner at the Dodge Arena.
All-time: Laredo is 24-10-4 against the Killer Bees, outscoring Rio Grande Valley 140-93. The Bucks are 9-8-3 all-time at the Dodge, and 15-2-1 all-time at the LEC. The teams met in the first round of the 2004 CHL playoffs with the Bucks sweeping the Killer Bees three games to none and again in the first round in 2006 with the Bucks winning four games to none.
BUCKS SEASON OPENERS
- Laredo is now 2-3 all-time in season openers after a 4-2 win in Corpus Christi on Saturday. The Bucks had lost back-to-back season opening games until the win. Both of Laredo's wins in season opening games have come against Corpus, the other was in 2003 by the score of 5-2 over the Rayz.
STELLAR SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY
- The Bucks scored two power play goals in Corpus on Saturday and were a perfect 9-9 on the penalty kill.
YOU AGAIN
- This was the third time in five seasons the Bucks opened in Corpus Christi. The Rayz beat the Bucks 2-1 on October 17, 2002, in Corpus Christi in the first game in Bucks franchise history. Laredo beat the Rayz 5-2 on October 18, 2003 in Corpus, and then beat the Rayz again 4-2 on Saturday.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
- This was the fifth straight season the Bucks have opened on the road.

RETURNING BUCKS
- Laredo has seven returning players off their 2005-06 CHL President's Cup championship roster. Forwards Igor Agarunov, Jeff Bes, and Ladislav Kouba are joined by defenseman Serge Dube, Paul Elliott, Adam Rivet, and Steve Weidlich. In addition defenseman Oriel McHugh, who was with the team in 04-05, returns after spending the 05-06 season in Bakersfield of the ECHL.

- 10/21/06 - SATURDAY - @ CORPUS CHRISTI - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks used stellar special teams play to defeat the Corpus Christi Rayz 4-2 at the American Bank Center in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. The Bucks scored a pair of power play goals and were perfect on the penalty kill as they picked up the road win. Serge Dube, Igor Agarunov, Kris MacPhee and Tyler Lawson scored for the Bucks. Nathan Marsters stopped 31 of 33 shots to get the win and improve to 1-0-0. Ron Vogel allowed four goals on 25 shots and fell to 0-1-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Corpus Christi 2.
