RiverKings' Hosmer Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Todd Hosmer of the Mississippi RiverKings is the Easton Player of the Week for December 30-January 5.

Hosmer led the RiverKings to a pair of wins over Fayetteville last weekend, scoring five goals and assisting on three others as Mississippi moved to within three points of first place in the SPHL standings.

On Friday, the Scarborough, Ontario native scored two goals and set up a third as the RiverKings rallied for a 5-4 win over the FireAntz. On Saturday, Hosmer recorded his third hat trick of the season, scoring power-play, shorthanded and empty net goals, and added a pair of assists in Mississippi's 6-5 win over Fayetteville.

Hosmer, who was loaned to Greenville (ECHL) on Monday, currently leads the SPHL in points (39), goals (25), power-play goals (8-tied), shorthanded goals (4) and shots (114). Last season, Hosmer was named to the SPHL All-Rookie Team, finishing fourth in goals and points by a rookie despite only playing 41 games. Before turning pro, Hosmer played three seasons at SUNY-Potsdam and one at Morrisville State College, where he scored 29 points in 25 games.
