SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings (13-5-3) saw their nine-game home point-streak come to an end at the hands of Jordan Ruby and the Huntsville Havoc (14-8-0) with a 4-1 loss at home on Sunday afternoon.
The teams traded goals in the first period. John Lidgett put the Havoc on top first with a wrap-around goal that beat Garrett Sheehan between the legs to give Huntsville a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Matt Harrington tallied his second point in as many nights, and his first goal of the year, when he one-timed a Sam Higgins pass over Jordan Ruby to tie the game at one.
In the second, the Havoc took the lead for good. Kyle McNeil finished off a three-on-two to beat a diving Sheehan high to give Huntsville a 2-1 lead. Then, with just five seconds left in the frame, Scott Henegar took advantage of a RiverKings turnover and found the back of the net to give the Havoc a two-goal lead. McNeil would then add his second goal of the game with an empty-net goal with one second left in the third to give Huntsville the 4-1 victory, snapping the RiverKings nine-game home point streak.
Garrett Sheehan (0-1-2) stopped 21 of 24 shots against in the loss. Jordan Ruby (4-3-0) turned aside 35 of 36 shots against in the win. The RiverKings were held scoreless on five power play opportunities while the Havoc were 0-3 with the man advantage.
