RiverKings get Kozak back
October 8, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. --- The New York Rangers have assigned forward Rick Kozak to the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League.
Kozak, 22, from Norway House, Man., split his time last season between the RiverKings and the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. Both the RiverKings and the Checkers have affiliation agreements with the Rangers.
Kozak quickly won over the RiverKings' fans. In just 18 games, he scored 14 goals and assisted on six others. He also amassed 61 penalty minutes during that time.
The Philadelphia Flyers drafted Kozak in the third round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. However, in March 2004, the Flyers traded the 6-foot-3, 225-pound winger to the Rangers for long-time NHL defenseman Vladimir Malakhov.
