Mudbugs Unveil Training Camp Roster

October 8, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League unveiled the 24 players on their 2007 training camp roster today. The roster includes 10 players who are back from last year, three former Mudbugs making their return to Bossier-Shreveport after playing elsewhere, and six rookies breaking into the pro ranks.

The training camp roster features many new additions, but also includes some familiar faces. Goaltender Ken Carroll returns to the Mudbugs for his seventh season with the team as the franchise leader in all goaltending categories. The five-time all-star and two-time CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender needs only two more shutouts to become the CHL's all-time leader. He enters this season with 250 professional games played and an all-time Mudbugs record of 136-55-15.

Defenseman Ryan Fairbarn also returns to the Mudbugs for his second season with the team after scoring 11 goals and 40 points from the backline last season. Defenseman Derek Miller, who was with Bossier-Shreveport during the 2006 playoffs, returns to the Mudbugs after spending last year in the UHL. Miller joins Dale Lupul and Brett Smith as players returning to the 'Bugs after spending last season in other leagues.

Elias Godoy joins Darryl Lloyd and Jake Ortmeyer as players with prior pro experience joining the Mudbugs for the first time in their careers.

Rounding out the roster are the six rookies trying to make this year's Mudbugs: forwards Evan Boire, Kevin Labatte, Tyrel Lucas, and Morgan Ward, defenseman Louis D'Avino and goaltender Blair Robertson.

As of today, training camp is officially underway for the Mudbugs and the rest of the CHL. Bossier-Shreveport will play just one preseason contest this year; it will happen on the road at the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday, October 13th. After that, the regular season will begin on October 19th at the Mississippi RiverKings, followed by the home opener at CenturyTel Center on Saturday October 20th against the Texas Brahmas.
