Mississippi RiverKings News Release

RiverKings players and staff lent a helping hand to the homeless during the coldest time of this winter as they served hot meals at the Memphis Union Mission on January 16th.

Memphis Union Mission is solely funded through private donations. In 2011, through the support of these donors, Memphis Union Mission was able to serve 294,240 meals and provide 112,636 nights of lodging to hungry, homeless men and women. RiverKings President Robin Costa sponsored the meal.

"We've enjoyed a long-standing friendship with the RiverKings, and we really appreciate their taking the time to serve our guests at the Mission," Memphis Union Mission Director of Development Steve Carpenter said. "They've served at our ministry many times over the years, and we respect their commitment to being involved in the community."

The goal of Memphis Union Mission is to minister to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of men, women and children who are homeless, addicted, and in crisis. They achieve this by serving meals, providing shelter, and offering spiritual guidance to their guests. For more information, call 901.526.8403, or visit www.MemphisUnionMission.org.
