Southaven, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but could not keep it as they fell to the Louisiana IceGators 4-2 in Lafayette.

The 'Kings got on the board first as Matt Whitehead picked up his third goal as a RiverKing as he blasted a shot past B.J. O'Brien to give the visitors a 1-0 lead just over 16 minutes into the game.

At the 7:15 mark of the second period, Robert Short ripped a wrister from just above the faceoff circle and beat David Wilson top shelf to tie the game at one.

But the RiverKings had an answer. Cameron Sault crashed the net and ran into the IceGators' netminder, knocking the net off its moorings, but not before the puck slid into the net to give the RiverKings a 2-1 lead. Deven Stillar received credit for the goal with Sault

Early in the third period, with the Gators on the power play, Tyler Lyon hammered home a rebound to tie the game up at two goals a piece. Just seconds later, Alex Morton ripped a shot over David Wilson's glove to make it 3-2. Later in the final frame, at the 17:49 mark, Robert Short took a Jason Hill outlet pass and picked up his own rebound as he beat Wilson to tally his second goal and give the IceGators an insurance marker.

The loss is just the RiverKings third in their last eight games as David Wilson takes the loss, as his record falls to 10-6-2 after stopping 27 of 31 shots again. B.J. O'Brien picked up the win as he improves to 9-7-2 after stopping 22 of 24 shots against.

It's Friday Night Teen Night where teenagers get a red-level ticket, a popcorn and soda, all for just $10.
