Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Southaven, Miss--This Mississippi RiverKings (3-4-1) took the last game of the home and home series with Knoxville (9-4-0) as they defeated the Ice Bears 2-1 at the Desoto Civic Center.

The first two periods went by with all the highlights going to the goaltenders. David Wilson, in his first game with the RiverKings since being acquired from the Augusta Riverhawks last week, dominated the play as he stopped all 13 shots that game to him. Jesse Kallechey equaled him as he pushed aside 22 shots through the first two frames.

The RiverKings struck first as Nick Vandenbeld found Ken Selby splitting the defensemen, and Selby put his shot right over the blocker side of Kallechey.

But the Ice Bears came right back. Just over two minutes after the Selby goal, Eric Slais netted his fifth goal of the season, converting on a Kevin Swider pass as he slid the puck right through the legs of Wilson to tie the game at one aside.

The RiverKings dominated the action after that. At the 16:12 mark of the third, Trevor Karasiewicz rifled a rebound over the glove hand of Kallechey, sealing the win for the 'Kings.

The win brought David Wilson's overall record to 5-1 on the season as he stopped 28 of 29 shots. Jesse Kallechey stopped 28 of 30, and fell to 0-3 on the year.

The RiverKings return to action tomorrow afternoon at the Desoto Civic Center against the Columbus Cottonmouths at 3:05.
