Southaven, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings battled back late in the third, but could not overcome a late three-goal deficit as they fell to the Pensacola Ice Flyers 3-1 on Friday night.

Ryan Hohl put Pensacola up early in the contest as he scored on a quick snap shot from the face off circle to give the Ice Flyers a 1-0 lead just 2:43 into the game. Hohl added a second goal at the 14:39 marker off a face off beating an unexpecting Scott Darling to put the Ice Flyers up two.

Scoring did not resume until 58 seconds into the third period. Tyler Soehner found Jordan Chong break through the defense on the power play as Chong beat the RiverKings' netminder on a breakaway to push the score to 3-0.

The RiverKings did not go away easily. At the 15:33 mark, Mark Magnowski ripped a wrist shot over the blocker side of Jesse Kallechy to cut the Pensacola lead to two. But the home team could not muster up any offense in the final four minutes of play as they fell to the Ice Flyers 3-1 on home ice for the first time this season.

Scott Darling (11-16-1) stopped 18 of 21 shots against in the loss. Jesse Kallechy (8-8-2) picked up his second win for the Ice Flyers this season - both against the RiverKings - as he stopped 30 of 31.

The RiverKings return to the Landers Center on Saturday, March 3 to take on the Mississippi Surge for the final time this season. The game airs live on Radio Memphis and the America One television network.
