Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Brian Mullally (pronounced: muh-LAH-lee). Mullally played as a rookie last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and is the sixth player signed by the RiverKings for the 2007-2008 season.

Mullally, 25, is a native of Maynard, MA and is six-foot-three and 220 pounds. He played 39 games with the Cyclones last season and finished with a goal, an assist and 99 penalty minutes. Before last season, Mullally completed a four year career at Division III Norwich University where he gained the reputation as a tough-nosed defenseman.

At Norwich, he competed in 107 games, scored 15 goals, assisted on 60 others and totaled 284 penalty minutes. Mullally led the Cadets in penalty minutes each of his four seasons and was part of the team's 2003 NCAA Division III national championship as a freshman. During his senior season of 2005-2006, he served as assistant team captain as the Cadets captured the ECAC Eastern Conference championship and played in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Mullally's senior season at Norwich concluded with a couple of awards: All American East Second Team and All-ECAC East First Team. He was also a teammate of 2006-2007 RiverKings Phil Aucoin and Kevin Schieve while at Norwich.

After the completion of his senior season in 2006, he made his pro debut by signing and appearing in one game with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Mullally joins Derek Landmesser as defensemen signed by the RiverKings thus far for next season.

The Mississippi RiverKings will begin the 16th season of CHL hockey in the Mid-South in October. The RiverKings are coming off a season where they finished the regular season with 39 wins, the most since 02-03 and the third most in the franchise's history. The team also made a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2003 and advanced to the Northern Conference finals before falling to the eventual President's Cup champion Colorado Eagles.

The on the ice success was accompanied by off the ice success. The team was awarded as the CHL's "Most Improved Franchise of the Year" for 2006-2007. Game attendance at the DCC increased 18% from 2005-2006, the fifth largest increase among all 87 minor pro hockey teams in North America. The team averaged 4700 fans in its final 12 regular season home games.
