Jacobsen To Play For Brahmas For 2007-08 Season

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 24) - The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) signed another player, center Grant Jacobsen, on Tuesday for the 2007-08 campaign. This is the tenth signing for the Brahmas.
Jacobsen, 24, was the 7th pick (9th round, 270th pick) by the St. Louis Blues in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001.
Last season, Jacobsen played for the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Johnstown Chiefs where he recorded 22 points (9 goals, 13 assists) in 67 games. It was his second season in the ECHL, as he split time with the Reading Royals and the Columbia Inferno for the 2005-06 season.
The Neepawa, Manitoba native played Canadien Interuniversity Sports (CIS) at the University of Manitoba in 2004-05. As a Bison, Jacobsen played 31 games and tallied 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) and 45 penalty minutes.
Jacobsen played 6 seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Regina Pats and Kamloops Blazers. In 314 games he had 213 points (77 goals, 136 assists) and 270 penalty minutes.
As a member of the Kamloops Blazers, Jacobsen was team captain and led the team in scoring with 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in the 2003-04 campaign.
NYTEX President, Frank Trazzera, trusts that the acquisition of Jacobsen is key for the Brahmas as they continue to build for the 2007-08 season.
"We are thrilled with the team [Head Coach] Dan is assembling. Grant is another great example of the character and the high integrity players that it will take for the Brahmas to bring home a championship," said Trazzera.
