Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League today announced that the team has signed left wing David Masse for the 2007-08 Fifth Anniversary season.
Masse, 24, finished fifth in CHL scoring last season with 77 points (37-40-77) in 61 games. Acquired from Tulsa in January, Masse collected 38 points (17-21-38) in 30 games with the Bees. He scored the game-tying goal and then bagged the game-winner in the shootout in his first game as a Bee on January 12, 2007, vs. Amarillo. Shootouts were a strong point last season for Masse at 7-for-9; he finished tied for the CHL lead in the extra-extra with Jeff Christian.
"We know David is a very exciting player who can bring a lot of offense," said Killer Bees Head Coach Paul Fixter. "We were lucky to see that for half a season. We can't wait to see what he'll do for us in a full season."
A 6-foot-1, 203-pound native of Montreal, Masse played for Fixter during the 2004-05 season at Hershey (AHL) and produced 12 goals and eight assists (12-8-20) in 46 games. In 2005-06, Masse spent the season with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers and posted 31 points (17-14-31) in 71 games with the top affiliate of the New York Islanders.
Killer Bees season tickets are available now for the 2007-08 season, the team's fifth in the Central Hockey League. The CHL schedule is expected to be released in early August.
