SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings, the longest continually operating professional sports franchise in the greater Memphis area, and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced today that they have re-signed forward Matt Harrington. Terms and conditions were not released.

Harrington, 24, enters his fourth season with the RiverKings in 2015-16. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound right wing has 101 points (41g, 60a) in 125 career games with the RiverKings. In 2014-15, the North Port, Florida native added 28 points (12g, 16a) in 33 games with Mississippi. He also saw action with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers and Alaska Aces, playing 20 games between the two clubs.

"'Harry' has been one of our most consistent forwards the past few years," said Landmesser. "He battles and competes every night and can play in any situation for us."

The 5th-year-pro was a major contributor to the team during their run to the President's Cup Finals last spring, leading the team with seven points (1g, 6a) and a plus-5 rating in five playoff games. He has 13 points (5g, 8a) in 11 career SPHL playoff games.

"I'm very proud to have the opportunity to continue playing for Coach Landmesser and the RiverKings organization," said Harrington. "I've come to know everyone so well over the years and I'm very excited to get back on the ice with the boys and get back to work."

Harrington was named SPHL Easton Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 22-28 after scoring three goals, including two game-winning goals, in two RiverKings wins.

"I hope to end this season with the outcome that not only I, but the team and the fans want, a President's Cup Championship," said Harrington.

Harrington has accepted an invitation to participate in training camp with the ECHL's Wichita Thunder.

The Mississippi RiverKings are proud to be the longest, continually operating sports franchise in the Memphis area, as they begin their 24th season in 2015. The home opener is scheduled for Friday, October 23 at the Landers Center. Groups of 15 or more who purchase a group for that night will receive an identical group package to any other regular season game for free.
