
RiverKings Acquire Veteran Defenseman

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced the acquisition of defenseman Joe Sova from the Peoria Rivermen in exchange for defenseman Donald Olivieri.
Sova, 28, comes to the RiverKings after collecting four assists in seven games with Peoria this season. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound blueliner enters his seventh professional season and began his professional career with stints in the American Hockey League with Albany. Collectively, the Berwyn, Illinois native has 48 AHL games played and 242 games in the ECHL. Last season, Sova registered eight points in 60 games as he split time between ECHL Tulsa and Toledo. Prior to beginning his professional career, Sova played three years of collegiate hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he amassed 58 points in 115 games.
Olivieri, 25, appeared in six games with the RiverKings this season after playing in the final 29 games last season with the club where he collected a combined five goals and 11 assists.
