Riverhounds Travel for Two Games in the Carolinas

Pittsburgh - In the fourth week of the USL PRO season, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds remain on the road for a set of games in the Carolinas. The Riverhounds will square off with the Charlotte Eagles tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Queens University Sports Complex. On Saturday, the Riverhounds travel to Charleston for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with defending USL PRO champions, Charleston Battery, at Blackbaud Stadium. The Riverhounds last two games have been heart wrenching, conceding game-winning goals in the final minutes of regulation despite showing strong possession throughout each game. In an effort to put emphasis on late-game mentality and a winning conviction, Head Coach Justin Evans elevated the competitive structure in training over the course of the week leading up to the grueling back-to-back weekend that lies ahead.
The Eagles are coming off a gritty 1-1 draw against the Orlando City Lions on Tuesday. The Lions took the lead in the 8th minute on a strike from Dominic Dwyer. Following the early goal from Orlando, the Eagles elevated their physical play and received five yellow cards before finding the equalizer in the 90th minute of play. The Eagles' Nate Thornton took advantage of a Lions defensive breakdown to bring the home side level, scoring before the final whistle.
Catching the Riverhounds on the back-end of the two-game road trip, the Battery is coming off a convincing 4-0 victory over the Antigua Barracudas at Blackbaud Stadium last Saturday. Netting two goals in each half, Ben Fisk and Zach Prince assisted and scored for the Battery in their home opener.

The Riverhounds return to Highmark Stadium on May 9 for a Thursday night match against the Phoenix FC Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Promoting the game as 'Ladies Night', the Riverhounds will be wearing pink kits for the game and will honor the 'Soccer Mom of Pittsburgh' at halftime. Following the game the Riverhounds will participate in a 'Shirt of the Back' raffle to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation in honor of The Race for the Cure, which takes place on Sunday, May 12.
