Riverhounds Host OC Blues at Highmark Stadium

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds welcome the Orange County Blues Friday night for a 7:00PM EST match at Highmark Stadium.
Both teams come into the match needing a win and three points if they hope to keep pace in the USL PRO playoff hunt. The Wilmington Hammerheads currently hold the 8th and final playoff spot, two points ahead of the Blues and three ahead of the Hounds, but have games-in-hand on both squads.
Orange County comes to town on the second game of a four-game road trip and look to halt a five-game losing streak. The Blues (8-13, 24pts) who have not won since a June 28th decision over Arizona, have lost four consecutive road games. They dropped a 1-0 decision to the home Oklahoma Energy FC this past Saturday on a late goal by David Leichty in the 88th minute.
That does not mean that the Riverhounds will be taking the Blues lightly. "We know they are going to be desperate coming in, and we have to be ready," said Riverhounds interim head coach Niko Katic, "any team in this league can win on any given night."
The Riverhounds (6-11-5, 23pts) are looking to build momentum after a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the LA Galaxy II on August 2 at Highmark Stadium. Joseph Ngwenya, Danny Earls, and Kevin Kerr all scored for the Riverhounds. Ngwenya was named to the USL PRO team of the week for his efforts, while Earls and Kerr both received honorable mention.
The win was the fifth in seven games for the 'Hounds as they look to continue their resurgence in the second half of the season.
"When your back is against the wall, you have to respond. The guys have done well in that situation, and I believe they are going to continue that way," added Katic.
