Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Pittsburgh-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds will host the Wilmington Hammerheads Friday night at Chartiers Valley Stadium. Friday night's game will mark the beginning of the second half of the USL PRO season for both Clubs. With less than two months remaining in the season, every point is critical for a ticket into the coveted playoffs. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 PM.
The Riverhounds are coming off of two straight 1-1 draws against the Dayton Dutch Lions and the Rochester Rhinos, respectively. In the Dutch Lions game, the Riverhounds came from behind to even the score when Darren Amoo recorded his first professional goal in the 87th minute. On Father's Day, the Riverhounds struck first when Agustin 'Tino' Nunez headed home a back-post service from Stefan Lundberg, but allowed the Rhinos to find the equalizer in the second half.
The Hammerheads are currently the hottest team in the USL PRO. The Hammerheads are on a seven game undefeated streak, winning four games and tying three. During their streak, the Hammerheads acquired Corey Hertzog from the N.Y. Red Bulls on a thirty-day loan. Hertzog has been a standout player in the USL PRO, recording four goals in five games with the Hammerheads.
Friday night's matchup between the Riverhounds and Hammerheads will be a fast-paced and physical contest. The side that plays together and wins the individual battles on the field should be victorious.
Tickets for Thursday's game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds office at 412.539.1191 or at the ticket gates on game day.
