Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Tam McManus' stoppage-time winner gave the Rochester Rhinos a 1-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday night at Sahlen's Stadium. The Rhinos' victory snapped the Riverhounds' four-game winning streak, and set up a key game for Pittsburgh against VSI Tampa Bay FC on Sunday afternoon.

Neither side had many chances in the first half as the game remained scoreless, with the Riverhounds' Hunter Gilstrap forced into the only save of the half. Pittsburgh came close to taking the lead two minutes into the second half, only for Rhinos goalkeeper Brandon Miller to turn a curling delivery into the penalty area wide of the right post.

Rudolph Mayard went close for the Rhinos just past the hour-mark after a good layoff by Andrew Hoxie at the top of the penalty area, only to shoot over the crossbar, while the Riverhounds also went close with 16 minutes to go as Darren Amoo's shot from 12 yards was blocked behind for a corner by Bilal Duckett.

The winner would come from a set piece, however, as Kendell McFayden was brought down 25 yards from goal. McManus stepped up and curled a fine shot over the defensive wall and into the bottom-right corner of the net to give the Rhinos victory.
