Riverhounds Drop Match to Harrisburg City Islanders 2-0

Harrisburg, Pa - The Riverhounds FC (5-3-6) fell to the Harrisburg City Islanders (6-6-3) at the Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg Saturday with a score of 2-0.

Despite the Riverhounds out-shooting the City Islanders 11-8, the HOUNDS® were unable to take advantage of scoring opportunities. Matt Mehler's shot in the ninth minute hit the crossbar. In the 16th minute Gabe Bernstein's shot hit the post, and the Riverhounds were denied the score. In the 79th minute Nathan Salsi, too, was denied the goal when his shot hit the post.

"We had a number of opportunities, but we couldn't convert," said head coach, Gene Klein. "We had chances but couldn't get the goals, which forced us to take some risks."

Chad Severs (acquired on loan from Rochester) scored for Harrisburg in 57th minute with an assist from Matt Tanzini. Then Tanzini scored during stoppage time with an assist by Adam Clay.

"It's a disappointing loss," added Klein. "We wanted a win on the road." The Riverhounds are undefeated at home this season.

The Riverhounds, who are in the thick of the playoff race, will host the Charlotte Eagles at Falconi Field Thursday when kick off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
