RiverHawks Lose In Extra Innings

O'Fallon, MO– The River City Rascals defeated the Rockford RiverHawks 8-7 in sixteen inning to complete the three-game sweep.

The RiverHawks scored in the first inning without a base hit. Olmo Rosario reached on an error. Rosario moved around the bases and scored on two more River City errors.

River City took the lead in the third inning when Sean Bischofberger hit a three-run homer making the score 3-1.

The RiverHawks tied the game in the fifth inning on a RBI ground out by Rich Austin. Aaron McEachran followed with a RBI single giving the RiverHawks a 4-3 lead.

River City's Jon Williams led off the sixth inning with a solo home run that tied the game at four.

Shaff Elkouri hit a two-run home run in the thirteenth inning giving the RiverHawks a 6-4 lead.

River City rallied in the bottom of the thirteenth on a RBI single by Tony Calderon. Williams followed with another RBI single tying the game at six.

Ryan Larson put the RiverHawks in front in the sixteenth inning on a solo home run that made the score 7-6.

In the bottom of the sixteenth Michael Conner hit a sacrifice fly that tied the game at seven. Josh Ury then hit a RBI single to win the game.

Dan Krines (3-8) picked up the win in relief. Marc Dulkowski (1-3) took the loss for the RiverHawks.

The RiverHawks return home to take on the Mid-Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 on Monday. Monday night will be the finals of Rockford Idol, sponsored by Al Grace Appliance and Manley Motors. Call (815) 964-2255 for tickets.
