
RiverHawks Complete Three-Game Sweep With 9-3 Win

Rockford, ILâ The Rockford RiverHawks broke a tie game with a seven-run third inning and went on to a 9-3 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts.
The RiverHawks completed a three-game series sweep, in front of 1,875 at Marinelli Field.
Rich Austin singled in two runs in the first inning, but Windy City opened the second inning with three straight hits off Josh Tomsu, including a Nick Johnson RBI single, and tied the game.
Rockford sent 11 to the plate in the third and took a 9-2 lead. Ryan Larson singled in the go-ahead run. He was 4-for-4. Doug Schutt broke the game open with a two-out, two-run triple to right-center field.
Tomsu (8-1) pitched eight innings for the win and although he gave up a season-high 10 hits, he also struck out a season-high 10. Tomsu struck out the side in the fourth inning.
Chris Reilly (3-4) lasted six innings and took the loss.
The entire Frontier League is off on Tuesday, then the RiverHawks head to Richmond for a three-game series. The âHawks return home at 7:05 p.m. Saturday for the start of a three-game series against Springfield. Saturday's game is RiverHawks Baseball Card Night, sponsored by LaSalle Bank and WREX-13.
All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 âthe Hub and at the team website. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season.
