Quad City Riverhawks News Release

Davenport - The Quad City Riverhawks (22-7) and ranked # 5 in the ABA Power Rankings took another victory, winning 97-93 against the # 8 ranked Minnesota Ripknees (20-8). The Riverhawks are now 3-3 against the Ripknees.

It was a tough return for Lonnie Randolph shooting 0-6 from the field, but added two points off free throws in the first half and ended the game with 5 points. Tony Weeden led the Riverhawks with 15 in the first half, and Ryan Edwards added 10 points, 7 rebounds. Jamel Stanten led the Ripknees with 10 and Tyrell Sledge chipped in 7.

The crowd got into the game and the momentum went to the Riverhawks in the third quarter resulting from 2 back to back dunks. The momentum shifted to the Ripknees as they clawed their way back early in the fourth quarter to take their only lead of the game. The Riverhawks managed to retain the lead after newcomer Kyle Myrick sparked an 11-0 Riverhawks run converting a 3 point play, coming up with a backcourt steal feeding Edwards for a 3-D bucket which tied the game at 81 with 5:57 remaining. Edwards led the Riverhawks with 28, and Weeden had 5 three pointers to end the game with 26. Staten led the Ripknees with 31 points and 6 rebounds, Sledge contributed 17, and Gilbert added 16 in the Ripknees loss.

The Riverhawks last regular season home game is March 3rd against the Peoria Kings. Tickets are available by calling the Riverhawks office at 563/445-2375 or are available at the Beyond the Baseline Field House prior to the game.
