Texas Tycoons News Release

Dallas, TX - The Texas Tycoons joined an elite group of proffessional teams with an .800 winning percentage on Friday defeating the Waco Wranglers 142-121. The Dallas Mavericks(NBA), Vermont Frost Heaves(ABA), and Arkansas Aeros(ABA) are the 3 other teams along with the Texas Tycoons (ABA) with an .800 or better winning percentage this season. Currently there are no teams in the NBA's D-League or in the CBA with that type of record.

For the Tycoons 7 players finished in double figures with Donnie Beacham (6'5''-F-81, agency: ND Corner Sports, college: Texas Arlington) leading the way with 38 points and 11 rebounds, Benny West (6'3''-G-82, agency: ProSportsCareers, college: Howard Payne) had 25 and 9, Tyrone Rayson (6'6''-F-80, college: East Central) 18 and 8, Jai Pradia (6'6''-F-79, agency: ND Corner Sports, college: Pittsburg St.) 14 points with several big plays down the stretch, Josh Gonner (6'2''-G-82, college: S.Carolina) 14, Brandon Lee (6'3''-G, agency: ProSportsCareers, college: Tarleton St.) 14, and Jerome Rogers (5'10''-G-81, college: N.Texas) finished with 11.

The Wranglers had a great performance by Reggie Griffin (6'4''-G-75, college: Louisiana Monroe) who equaled Beacham's game high with 38, Jeffrey Sadler (6'3''-F-79, college: Dixie St. JC) had 17, Rob Giesey (5'10''-G-82) 13, and Melvin Allen 10.

Texas Head Coach Chris Terrell when asked about the playoffs said "You know our goals this entire season have focused around the next game and even the next play, if we take care of these two road games coming up and go 22-5, we'll then have a couple weeks with the first round bye to think about the first playoff game. Our team goal is to win the championship but the only way you can do that is one game at a time. My focus right now is winning again Sunday."

The 20-5 Tycoons, winners of 11 out of their last 12 games, now prepare for a Sunday showdown in Houston against the Takers. Texas will return to Houston next Friday evening to close out the regular season. Currently rated #3 nationally in the ABA power rankings, Texas is hoping the two wins with a couple key losses at the top of the power rankings will get them home court through out the post season. Playoff tickets will go on sale on March 5th and season ticket holders will be given the first option on seating.
