RiverHawks Add RVC Coach Kevin Vest to Staff

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Rock Valley College head coach Kevin Vest has been added to the RiverHawks staff for the 2012 season.
Adding Vest to the staff builds on the relationship between the RiverHawks and the Rock Valley baseball program as RiverHawks manager Rich Austin has served as an assistant coach on Vest's staff at RVC and RiverHawks' pitcher Brett Scarpetta has spent the past two springs as RVC's pitching coach. In addition to helping with instruction, RVC played a hand full of their home games at RiverHawks Stadium this season.
A Galesburg, Illinois native, Vest was a four year letter-winner and All-Midwest Conference performer as a catcher at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Following his playing career, he spent two years as an assistant coach at his alma mater assisting head coach Ed Puck. Vest was responsible for coaching hitters and catchers during his two seasons on the Blueboys' staff.
Vest is also active as a camp instructor for a number of organizations throughout the country and is a member of several coaching associations. The Rock Valley College skipper has served as a camp instructor at places such as the University of Illinois, Mississippi State University, Springfield College of Illinois, Mickey Owen Baseball School, and Coast to Coast Baseball. He is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league that will play its 20th season in 2012. The RiverHawks open their 11th season on May 18 at River City.
