Columbus Riverdragons News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 31 – The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League have claimed forward Reed Rawlings and released guard Adam Harrington, according to an announcement today by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone.

Rawlings, a 6-7, 215-pound forward out of Samford University ('00) comes to Columbus after appearing in seven games with the NBDL's Asheville Altitude earlier this season prior to his release on March 15. Rawlings was acquired by Asheville on March 1 and averaged 9.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 19 minutes per game while shooting 44% from the floor, 43% from three-point range, and a perfect 9-9 from the foul line. Rawlings will wear jersey #33 and is expected to play when the Riverdragons host the Roanoke Dazzle Friday at the Columbus Civic Center.

As a professional, Rawlings has played both nationally and internationally. He spent the 2000-01season with the Detroit Dawgs of the ABA 2000 and the 2001-02 campaign with the CBA's Grand Rapids Hoops. Rawlings played briefly in the Australian National Basketball League with the Perth Wildcats and toured with Athletes In Action in 2003 .

Rawlings ranks sixth all-time in Samford history in scoring (1,493 points) and tenth all-time in rebounds (517) becoming one of four players in school history to record at least 1,000 points and grab at least 500 boards. Following his senior season with the Bulldogs, he earned all-tournament honors at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, finishing fourth in scoring at 17.7 points per game.

As a senior, Rawlings was a Third-Team All-Trans America Athletic Conference selection while leading Samford to the 2000 NCAA Tournament. In Samford's first-round matchup with Syracuse, Rawlings posted 28 points and tied a career-high with five three-pointers. As a junior, Rawlings led the Bulldogs and finished fifth in the TAAC in scoring (16.5 ppg) as Samford reached the 1999 NCAA Tournament.

Harrington was waived in order to rehabilitate his injury, which forced him to miss the Riverdragons last three games and five of their last eight overall. In 17 games with Columbus, Harrington made nine starts and averaged 11.2 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals, in 26 minutes per contest, while shooting 40.7% from the floor, 81% from the foul line and 42% from outside the three-point arc.

The former Auburn Tiger posted a season-high 29 points in his Dragons debut on January 16 in a 94-86 win over Charleston at the Columbus Civic Center. Harrington tallied a total of three 20+ point games and scored in double figures eight times for Columbus.

The Riverdragons host the Roanoke Dazzle this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center. Columbus looks to keep its playoff hopes alive against the team which currently holds fourth place and the final spot in the 2004 NBDL-Delta Airlines Postseason Classic. It will be Riverdragons Rally Towel Giveaway Night, with the first 500 fans receiving a free rally towel upon entering the Civic Center.
