RiverDogs to Feature Six Doubleheaders With The Citadel

CHARLESTON, SC - On six occasions in April and May, baseball fans can enjoy two complete games - one professional and the other collegiate - for the price of one admission.

The Charleston RiverDogs and The Citadel - co-tenants at beautiful Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park - will have six dates this spring where fans can enjoy both contests for the price of one.

On April 14, the Bulldogs host Savannah State at 4:00 p.m. while the RiverDogs host the defending South Atlantic League (SAL) champion Augusta GreenJackets for a slated 8:05 p.m. start.

On April 25-26, the Bulldogs host Georgia Southern in a Southern Conference rivalry game, while the RiverDogs entertain the Savannah Sand Gnats. Saturday's Citadel game begins at 2 p.m. with the RiverDogs playing Savannah at the regular 7:05 start time. Sunday's Citadel contest begins at 1 p.m. with the RiverDogs hosting the Sand Gnats at 5:05 p.m.

May 2-3 brings SoCon newcomer Samford to The Joe, while the RiverDogs pop the cork on a four-game series with the Greenville Drive. The same format for these two games will apply, as Saturday's Citadel contest begins at 2 p.m. and the RiverDogs following at 7:05 p.m., while Sunday's affair for The Citadel starts at 1 p.m. and is followed by the RiverDogs at 5:05 p.m.

May 6 marks the projected final doubleheader of 2009, when The Citadel entertains USC Upstate for a 4 p.m. first pitch, and then the RiverDogs play host to the Asheville Tourists, the 2008 first-half SAL Southern Division champions, at 8:05 p.m.

Citadel fans are encouraged to stay for the RiverDogs games but must yield their seats to RiverDogs' season ticket holders.
