RiverDogs Return from All-Star Break for Four-Game Homestand

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Refreshed from the All-Star break, the Charleston RiverDogs are set to begin the official start of the summer season in style. The Class-A affiliate of the 27-time World Champion New York Yankees hosts the Kannapolis Intimidators for a four-game series, beginning Thursday, June 23, at 7:05 pm.

Charleston's favorite professional sports team wastes no time in providing refreshment to its fans on another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. DJ Natty Heavy will set the tone for an evening of fun and relaxation as spectators can enjoy $1 beers in the air-conditioned Ashley View Pub. Jeff Bridges fans will also be able to "Be Your Own Fan" while enjoying comical promotions which draw off the cult classic Big Lebowski film.

The good times continue to roll on Friday as the RiverDogs don red jerseys on Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday. Fans can save a $1 which goes toward local military families, enjoy the ballgame and then gaze at Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks high above the Ashley River.

Saturday's events promise to be both fun and moving as the RiverDogs hold the 12th annual "Kindness Beats Blindness" RP Auction. With all proceeds going to the Medical University of South Carolina's (MUSC) Storm Eye Institute and their on-going fight to prevent the loss of sight, the auction begins when the gates open at 6 p.m. and concludes at the bottom of the 6thinning.

Bidders can add to the more than $400,000 that has been donated to the Storm Eye Institute to help fight Retinitis Pigmentosa, a disease that causes blindness and has affected Rebecca Veeck, daughter of RiverDogs President Mike Veeck. In addition the RP Auction, fans will be able to take part in the season's second Military Appreciation Night and get treated to a complete RiverDogs baseball card set giveaway, courtesy of WCBD TV 2.

Enjoy your day of rest on Sunday, June 23, as the RiverDogs conclude their matchup with the Chicago White Sox affiliate. FREE Parking and Kids Eat FREE headlines another CCPRC Family Sunday and canines will be welcome on Love Thy Pet Dog Day.

The RiverDogs call on all Jeff Bridges fans to head down to The Joe to take part in promotions channeling The Big Lebowski, plus it's also another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. With $1 beers in the Ashley View Pub and fresh music courtesy of the stylings of DJ Natty Heavy, everything one needs to get the extended weekend off to a rollicking start is at The Joe.

Friday, June 24 - 7:05 pm vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: Force Protection Industries, Inc. Red Shirt Friday, Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks, Watermelon Night

Who doesn't love a sweet, tasty slice of watermelon on a hot summer night' The RiverDogs welcome the South Carolina Watermelon Association to Riley Park to promote their cause and fans will be treated to free samples in the postgame. On Force Protection Industries, Inc. Red Shirt Friday, all patrons wearing a red shirt to the game will blend in with the players on the field and receive a $1 off their walkup admission ticket. If you're feeling charitable, you may donate that dollar to a military family with parents fighting overseas. Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks will once again illuminate the night sky, making sure everyone goes home a winner and with a smile.

Saturday, June 25 - 7:05 pm vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: Kindness Beats Blindness RP Auction, Military Appreciation Night #2, WCBD TV 2 Baseball Card Giveaway, Lowcountry Local First Go Local Saturday

The "Kindness Beats Blindness" Auction offers an abundance of specialty gifts and services to generous bidders, including spa retreats, tickets to a Broadway show in New York, a golf cart, and a trip to Montana. There will also be fine jewelry, Kiawah Island packages, and Bed and Breakfast stays, to name just a few. All proceeds benefit MUSC's Storm Eye Institute and the on-going fight to cure blindness. On Military Appreciation Night, the RiverDogs and Force Protection Industries are proud to welcome military personnel and their families to the park. Pregame and in-game promotions will give the rest of the Charleston faithful plenty of chances to rain down applause for the local heroes. As is the case every Saturday, Tricounty residents will also be able to save a $1 on their ticket and find out about some of the best local businesses in the Holy City and beyond thanks to Lowcountry Local First. After the game, children can take to the diamond for Kids Run the Bases.

Sunday, June 26 - 5:05 pm vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission Family Sunday, Love Thy Pet Dog Day #3

Sunday is a day to wind down before the start of another grinding work week, and there's no better place to do that than at The Joe. As an added bonus, pooches will also be welcomed at the park to relax with owners on Love Thy Pet Dog Day #3. It's also another CCPRC Family Sunday, meaning one can save money by taking advantage of FREE PARKING and KIDS EAT FREE, presented by Pepsi.
