TONIGHT’S MATCHUP: The first of six meetings and the first of two in Richmond. First ever meeting with the expansion Mechanics. ‘Dogs are 1-0-1 vs. Central Division clubs. Motor City’s first game vs. an Eastern Division opponent. Mechanics are led by Blair Manning with 10 points in 10 games. The ‘Dogs are in a third place tie in the Eastern Division with Adirondack, one point behind Danbury. The Mechanics are fifth in the Central Division, one point behind Port Huron.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Dogs beat Adirondack 4-3 in a shootout Saturday on the road. The Frostbite grabbed three different leads in the first two periods and three times the ‘Dogs rallied to tie the game. Jonathan Gagnon had a goal and assist and scored the game-winner in the shootout. Ryan McIntosh made 30 saves. The Mechanics lost 5-3 at Elmira Wednesday. The Jackals snapped a 3-3 tie with two third period goals.

’DOG BITES: Trevor Senn has been suspended for two games by the UHL for his actions in last Friday’s game at Adirondack. Derek Schutz, who retired to take a job in the ‘Dogs front office at the end of last season, re-joins the ‘Dogs for this weekend. Earlier this week the RiverDogs traded D Bryan Cummings to Elmira for future considerations. Richmond also waived D Frank Burgio and waived the rights to Ojay Hehr. The ‘Dogs active roster stands at 18 with Senn suspended and Dan Rohanna still on team suspension due to a family emergency. the 'Dogs open a four game homestand tonight. The RiverDogs earned their first shootout win of the year Saturday in Adirondack. Richmond has allowed power play goals in five straight games. The 'Dogs have fired 30 or more shots on goal in seven of their 10 games. All three times the 'Dogs have been held below 30 came against Adirondack. Richmond is 0 for their last 22 on the power play. Francis Belanger has points in five straight games. Jonathan Gagnon and David Brosseau had three game scoring streaks end Friday. Ryan McIntosh has won all three of his starts. The 'Dogs had a season low six PIM Saturday in Adirondack and the 'Dogs and Frostbite combined for a 'Dogs season low 10 PIM. Francis Belanger is tied for 10th in the league in scoring. Ryan McIntosh is six in the UHL in goals against average. David Brosseau is tied for second in the league in shots on goal.

NEXT UP: The RiverDogs host the Danbury Trashers tomorrow night at 7:35. It is the first of three RiverDogs Poster Nights. Richmond is also home Friday (Adirondack) and Saturday (Elmira) next weekend. Game time both nights is 7:35. Next Friday and Saturday are Scout Nights and the ‘Dogs will be giving away Thundersticks both nights compliments of Fas mart.
