
Mallards Battle Past Beacons for 2-1 Win

Moline, IL-Marty Standish recorded a goal and an assist while earning first star honors in a 2-1 win on Friday over the Port Huron Beacons at The MARK. In a game that was closely contested throughout, Standish's second period marker held up as the game-winner as the Mallards improved to 6-4-1 on the season.
The teams traded first period goals as Sergei Durdin recorded his second Mallards marker on a power play at 11:12 of the first period. Standish and Terry Hollinger recorded assists on Durdin's tally that gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead.
Port Huron would tie the game 3:46 later when David Beauregard scored his fifth goal of the season on a breakaway.
In the second, Standish recorded his second goal of the season and first at home just 14 seconds in to give the Mallards the 2-1 lead. The final 39:46 of the game was scoreless as both teams battled relentlessly for position.
Jeff Reynaert stopped 19 of 20 shots in the Quad City net to earn third star honors. Sergei Durdin was named second star on the strength of his second goal of the season in front of a crowd of 3,442.
Tomorrow, the Mallards host Kansas City at 7:00 p.m. It's Old Time Hockey Night featuring music by legendary Chicago Blackhawks organist Frank Pellico. After the game, Mallards season ticket holders are invited down to the ice for a post-game skate. Pellico will perform as the Mallards most loyal fans skate with their team.
