TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The first of four meetings and the first of two here. The ‘Dogs were 6-5-1 vs. Flint last season, 4-1-1 at home. The ‘Dogs trail Flint by two points in the wild card race. Jim Duhart had 16 points vs. the ‘Dogs last season. David Brosseau had six goals vs. Flint in seven games. The ‘Dogs are third in the Eastern Division, four points back of Flint and Missouri in the wild card race. The Generals are third in the Central, six points behind Kalamazoo.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Dogs lost 8-4 to Port Huron here Wednesday. The Beacons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and blew the game open with three goals in 2:01 of the third period. Three Beacons scored two goals. David Hymovitz scored twice for Richmond. The Generals drilled Motor City 5-1 at home Wednesday. Kris Waltze and Bobby Kukulka had a goal and assist for Flint.

'DOG BITES: Dennis Vial will make his ‘Dogs debut tonight. He was acquired in a trade from Missouri earlier this week. Nathan Grobins was named the UHL Goalie of the Month for January. The ‘Dogs string of 19 straight penalty kills ended Wednesday. Richmond has allowed 14 goals in their last two games after giving up just 17 in their previous nine. Richmond is 0-1 on a six game homestand. The ‘Dogs are 4-5-1 vs. the Central Division. Grobins has started five straight games in net. David Hymovitz is eighth in the league in scoring. Trevor Senn is fourth in the league in penalty minutes. He remains on IR. Grobins is tied for fifth in the league in shutouts. Kyle Sheen leads the UHL in rookie penalty minutes. Tonight's match-up features three of the UHL's nine top scorers.

GENERALS NOTES: Bobby Reynolds is tied for third in the league in scoring and is second in assists. Rob Valicevic is sixth in points. Kris Waltze is fifth in penalty minutes. Both Flint goalies are in the league top 10 in goals against average. Dan McIntyre is sixth and Marco Emond is ninth. The Generals open a six game road trip tonight. Flint is 4-5-1 vs. the Eastern Division. The Generals Kevin Kerr became minor league hockey's all-time career leading goal scorer earlier this season, surpassing former Richmond Renegade Scott Gruhl. Flint is third in the league in power play and penalty kill and second in penalty minutes.

NEXT UP: The ‘Dogs host Flint again Saturday at 7:35. The ‘Dogs host Danbury next Wednesday at 7:35 PM. NASCAR Rookie of the Year driver Kasey Kahne will be on hand and their will be a jersey auction following the game.
