Richmond RiverDogs News Release


The Richmond RiverDogs are now 30-14-4, after going 5-0 last week. The ‘Dogs stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 games and opened up a 14 point lead over Flint in the Eastern Conference race with five wins in six nights. The ‘Dogs play a pair of games on the road this week. Richmond returns home February 20.

Saturday, February 14 @ Kalamazoo 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The third of five meetings in the season series and the second of three in Kalamazoo. Richmond is 0-3 vs. the Wings, 0-1 at Kalamazoo. Jeff Turner has seven points vs. the ‘Dogs. Dave Shields and Brian Goudie have two points vs. the Wings. The Wings are 8-22 (36.4%) on the power play vs. Richmond. Kalamazoo has out-scored the ‘Dogs 13-4.

Sunday, February 15 @ Ft. Wayne 5:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The third of four meetings and the first of two in Ft. Wayne. Richmond is 1-1 vs. the defending Colonial Cup champion Komets. Derek Schutz has four points vs. Ft. Wayne. Bobby Stewart has four vs. the ‘Dogs.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs and Komets traded leads then engaged in a 13 round shootout before the ‘Dogs pulled it out. Jay Murphy scored the game-winner in the shootout. Maxime Gingras made 33 saves in regulation. Eric Perricone and Derek Schutz scored in regulation for the ‘Dogs.

Wednesday, February 4 vs. Elmira WIN 3-0

GAME NOTES: Maxime Gingras made 29 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season. David Brosseau had a goal and assist. Luch Nasato and Brian Goudie also scored for the ‘Dogs. The ‘Dogs stretched an unbeaten streak vs. the Jackals to eight games.

Friday, February 6 @ Elmira WIN 3-2 (SO)

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs squeezed out a win in their fourth shootout in five games. David Brosseau scored a pair of goals. Maxime Gingras made 40 saves in regulation and stopped four of five Jackals in the shootout. The Jackals out-shot Richmond 42-21, the largest margin vs. the ‘Dogs this season.

Saturday, February 7 @ Adirondack WIN 3-1

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs rallied for three goals in less than 3:30 in the first period after falling behind 1-0. Ryan Aschaber made 33 saves in his ‘Dogs debut. Richard Pitirri, Eric Perricone, and Jay Murphy scored for the ‘Dogs. Olivier Filion and Luch Nasato had two assists each.

Sunday, February 8 vs. Port Huron WIN 6-3

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead and rolled to their 30th win. Eric Perricone scored two goals, including a shorthanded goal that put the ‘Dogs on the board. Jay Murphy had a goal and two assists. Dave Shields and Jeremy Wray each had two assists.

DOG BITES: The RiverDogs are 10-0-1 in their last 11 games. The 'Dogs have won five in a row, taking all five games in a five games in six nights stretch. Richmond is unbeaten in regulation in 11 straight home games. The 'Dogs have won seven straight at home. Richmond is unbeaten in their last four road games. The 'Dogs are a season high 16 games over .500. Their five game winning streak equals the second longest of the season. Eric Perricone has points in five straight games. The 'Dogs have been out-shot in four straight games. The six goals scored by the 'Dogs Sunday vs. Port Huron is the most in a game by Richmond since scoring six at Port Huron 11/29. Richmond has allowed only 30 goals in their last 16 games. The 'Dogs are 13-1-3 in their last 17 games. Maxime Gingras started 18 straight games in net. That streak ended when Rookie Ryan Aschaber won his first start for the 'Dogs Saturday vs. Adirondack Aschaber has now won games with three UHL clubs this season. The 'Dogs have killed off 28 of the opposition's last 30 power play chances. The 'Dogs were two points behind Flint following a shootout loss to the Generals January 10. Now the 'Dogs lead the Eastern Conference by 14 over the Generals, a turnaround of 16 points in less than a month. The 'Dogs shootout with Ft. Wayne Tuesday lasted 13 rounds. 26 shooters participated. The ‘Dogs finished a stretch of nine games in 13 days Sunday. Kevin St. Jacques is tied for 13th in the UHL in scoring. Jay Murphy is tied for 17th in points. Darren Wetherill is tied for second in plus/minus. Maxime Gingras is fourth in goals against average, third in shutouts, and tied for third in wins. The ‘Dogs are now third in the league in goals against average. Richmond still leads the league in penalty minutes. J.J. Wrobel, J.F. Picard, and Olivier Dannel are on IR. Richmond is 3-4 vs. Western Conference clubs.
