
RiverDogs end '05 with shootout loss

Richmond RiverDogs News Release
DANBURY, CT - Despite going up 3-1 after two, the Richmond RiverDogs gave up three straight goals to the Danbury Trashers, including a pair of shorthanded goals, before Mike Oliveira's game tying goal sent the game into a shootout. However, the Trashers scored 3 in the shootout en-route to a 5-4 victory as 2006 close for both teams. Mike Oliveira continued his hot hand as he scored two goals and added an assist. Other scorers for Richmond were J.J. Wrobel and Dan Vandermeer. Mike D'Alessandro was between the pipes for the RiverDogs, whose record now stands at 12-16-3. The shootout loss gave the RiverDogs one point in the standings and are now in 3rd place in the Eastern Division, one point ahead of Roanoke Valley, who got hammered by the Fort Wayne Komets in Fort Wayne.
The RiverDogs return home to the Coliseum tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 pm to play host to the Elmira Jackals. . It will be UKROPS Day with the RiverDogs. Fans can bring their UKROPS card to the Coliseum Box Office and receive up to four free tickets for tomorrow's game. It will also be Fox Postgame Skate with the RiverDogs. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates and skate with the players following the contest with the Jackals. Those without skates can come onto the ice, get pictures, autographs and join in on the fun.
