RiverCity Rage Hire New Offensive Coordinator

St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage have announced the hiring of John McIntyre to the position of Offensive Coordinator for the 2008 season. The position was previously held by former Head Coach, Eric Van Tassel, who left the team for personal reasons. McIntyre had spent the previous two seasons with the Bloomington Extreme, also a member of the United Indoor Football League.
"John will be a great asset to the Rage coaching staff," said Rage Head Coach, Ken Stills. "The players have already taken to his schemes and game plans. He brings an unbelievable coaching background. Most importantly, he has vast knowledge of the indoor game. He will be an important cog in our ultimate goal of winning a UIF championship."
This season will mark McIntyre's 40th year in coaching. He has coached at the high school, college, and arena levels. He was previously an assistant coach at Monmouth (IL) College, Eureka (IL) College, and Illinois State University. A member of both the Illinois High School Football Coaches and Central Catholic Football Halls of Fame, McIntyre led five high school teams to the Illinois State Championship Game, winning three titles.
McIntyre has been married to his wife, Lorraine, for 37 years. Together they have three children - daughters Amy (33) and Kelly (30) and son Evan (27) - as well as three grandchildren.
"I am happy to be involved with such a great organization," said McIntyre. "We have a fantastic family of coaches, players, and front office staff here with the Rage and they have all made me very welcome. I look forward to this new challenge and feel that we all have a common goal."
The Rage will take the field for the first time in 2008 with a preseason game against the Missouri Wildcats on Sunday, March 2nd at 3:00. As all Rage home games, the contest will be at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The Rage open their regular season Sunday, March 9th as they host the Colorado Ice at 3:00.
