Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) has re-signed two of leagues most explosive offensive players to contracts for the 2008 season. Marques Smith led the team in rushing while James Terry led the team in receiving touchdowns in 2007. Smith and Terry helped lead the Storm to a team record 49.3 points per game in 2007.

Smith is entering his fifth season for the Storm and is now the Storm's all-time leading rusher. Smith has 1,830 career rushing yards and is coming off one of the best seasons for a Storm running back ever. Smith finished 2007 by posting the most rushing yards in a season in Storm history. Smith ran for 795 yards and led the league by scoring 32 rushing touchdowns, which is also a Storm single season record. The former Dakota Wesleyan standout finished second in the UIF in scoring and was named to the Western Conference All-Star team in 2007.

Smith also led the team in rushing in 2006 with 720. Smith added 14 touchdowns and was named the leagues Most Improved Player. Smith came onto the scene late in 2005 where he rushed for 11 TD's in just six regular season games. Marques continued his dominance in the playoffs by rushing for 6 TD's in just 3 playoff games during the 2005 run to the United Bowl Championship. Smith holds the UIF record for most touchdowns in one game as he scored six times during a 2005 game vs. Black Hills.

Terry will be coming back for his third season in a Storm uniform. In 2007, he led the Storm in receiving touchdowns with 17, which is the second most in a single season in Storm history. The former Kansas State receiver ranks fourth in both receiving yards (1,160) and receiving touchdowns (33) in Storm history. Terry's 16 touchdown receptions in 2006 are the third most in one season in Storm history.

Terry was a standout at Kansas State where he totaled 92 receptions for 1,793 yards and 18 touchdowns in just two seasons with the Wildcats. Terry finished his playing career at Kansas State in 2003. Terry spent the 2004 season with the San Diego Chargers and the 2005 season with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.
