United Indoor Football Teams To Participate In Pre-Season Games
February 26, 2008 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE - Four teams from United Indoor Football (UIF) will play in pre-season games in the midst of the training camp. Three of the four match-ups involve teams from the same state as the home team.
The Colorado Ice will welcome the Denver Titans of the Colorado Football Conference, Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time.
Ice Head Coach Collins Sanders says the game allows for player evaluation as well as fostering the team's relationship with the Titans.
"Playing the Titans gives us an opportunity to evaluate the talent we have on our team before heading into the regular season," Sanders said. "The relationship with the Titans allows us to have ties with local players that are trying to continue their playing careers."
The Sioux City Bandits will battle the St. Joe Ravens of the Central Plains Football League, Sunday at 3 p.m. Central time.
Bandits Head Coach Jarrod DeGeorgia says playing a pre-season game has its advantages.
"You get to suit up 35 guys instead of 21," DeGeorgia said. "The starters will play the first quarter and then I'll put in the other guys in to see what they can do."
In addition to the Ice and the Bandits, the Bloomington Extreme and RiverCity Rage will each play a pre-season game. The Extreme will host the Rock River Raptors of the Continental Indoor Football League Friday at 7:05 p.m. Central time. The Rage will rumble with the Missouri Wildcats of the North American Football League Sunday at 3 p.m. Central time.
