RiverBlades Triumph Over Ice Pilots

The Arkansas RiverBlades scored two third-period goals,and Scott Fankhouser made 35 saves to defeat the Pensacola Ice Pilots 4-3 Friday night at the Alltel Arena.

Ryan Coole and Dean Stock each tallied goals in the deciding frame, and Matt Pagnutti added two assists for the Blades.

Kerry Ellis Toddington opened up the scoring at 2:39 of the first period, notching his 8th from Trevor Allman.

Pensacola would add to their lead just 2:53 into the second, as Marquis Mathieu tallied his 16th of the season from Brad Dexter and Greg Pankewicz.

Arkansas would cut the lead to 2-1 at the 8:24 mark, as Dean Stork got his 13th of the campaign assisted by Mark Scott and Terry Marchant.

At 17:09, Jason Bermingham would tie it for Arkansas, slapping home his team-leading 33rd goal of the year. Matt Pagnutti had a helper on the play.

However, just over a minute later, Taras Foremsky got a breakaway and beat goaltender Scott Fankhouser to regain the lead for the Ice Pilots at 3-2 at the end of 40 minutes.

In the third, the Blades tied it at 7:55, as Ryan Coole tallied his 2nd goal of the season from Buddy Smith and Matt Pagnutti.

Then, on the power-play at 13:16, Dean Stock centered the puck toward the goal, and it deflected in off of the Pensacola defenseman to give the Blades the 4-3 win.

Pensacola outshot Arkansas 38-32 in the game, and the Pilots were 1-for-8 on the power-play. The RiverBlades were 2-for-9 on the man advantage.

The same two teams meet for the final time of the season tomorrow night at the Alltel Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
