The Elizabethton River Riders beat the Kingsport Axmen by a final score of 11-9.

Elizabethton got the bats going early. The River Riders scored five runs on two homers in the top of the first but Kingsport responded with one run in the bottom half of the inning on a Corbin Shaw RBI single.

Kingsport cut the lead to three in the bottom of the second, but the River Riders (13-15) fired back with two runs in the top of the third to take a 7-2 lead.

The Axmen (20-8) brought themselves to within four runs again on an Aaron Casillas RBI sac fly, in the bottom of the fifth.

No runs were scored in the sixth and seventh.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Kingsport scored five runs to take an 8-7 lead, their first of the ballgame. Logan Poteet singled home Kyle Booker, Fernandez singled home Poteet, Anderson doubled home Mayes White and Jake Perry hit the go-ahead two-run single to score Fernandez and Anderson.

Despite recording 14 hits, only one Axmen hit was for extra bases.

Elizabethton scored four runs in the top of the ninth to take an 11-8 lead and Kingsport only scored once in the bottom of the ninth and lost by two runs.

The Axmen look to get back in the win column on Sunday night against Elizabethton.
