Missouri River Otters News Release
St. Charles, MO --- The Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League are proud to announce they have signed high scoring center Lars Pettersen for the upcoming hockey season.
Petterson, 25, has produced points at a frenetic pace during his first seven years as a professional. In 445 games he has fired home 162 goals and dished out 278 assists for 440 points, almost a point-per-game clip. He's expected to play an important role this season for the River Otters.
"Lars is going to be a tremendous leader on this hockey team," River Otters Head Coach Kevin Kaminski said. "He's a very solid two way player who is strong on face-offs."
Pettersen, who checks in at 6'2'', 210 pounds, has spent most of his career in the East Coast Hockey League. A native of British Columbia, he played 49 games last year with the ECHL's Reading Royals, scoring 20 goals and adding 15 assists.
In 2002-03 he scored 26 goals and added 54 assists in 65 games with the Richmond Renegades of the ECHL. He's been up to the American Hockey League twice, including a 13 game stint in 2001-02 with Cleveland where he scored three goals.
The River Otters start their Colonial Cup quest Friday, October 15 at Kansas City, and the home opener is Saturday, October 23 against Quad City.
