River Otters End IceHogs Streak With 5-3 Triumph

November 27, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

Led by Justin QuennevilleÂ’s two goals, the Missouri River Otters ended the Rockford IceHogs ten-game unbeaten streak with a 5-3 win at the Family Arena.

The Otters wasted no time putting pucks behind IceHogs goaltender Michel Robinson. The first goal was scored on a terrific wraparound by Mark Odut, who roofed the puck above Robinson. Two minutes later, the same line struck again. Odut sprung Glenn Detulleo and Brian Heckendorn on a two-on-one break with a terrific pass. Detulleo played a perfect across to Heckendorn, who buried the puck for his first goal of the year. The Otters werenÂ’t done yet, however, as Quenneville rifled home his fourth goal of the year midway through the opening period.

The teams traded goals in the middle period, with J.C. Ruid picking up the marker for the IceHogs. Missouri responded with a goal of their own, when Chris Bell popped a rebound behind Robinson for his second goal of the season.

The IceHogs got a glimmer of life in the final period, as J.F. Dufour pulled his team to within two goals by firing home his ninth goal of the season. But again the Otters responded. Quenneville walked in on the left wing and beat Robinson with a top-shelf wrist shot, putting Missouri up by three. Olivier Proulx added a late goal for the ‘Hogs, but the Otters held on for the win.

Jason Tapp, who left the game in the third period due to an injury, made 18 saves for his sixth win of the season. Robinson made 29 saves in defeat.

The Otters will play the Kansas City Outlaws Sunday afternoon at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 1:05, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the B2 Webcast, located at www.riverotters.com.
